Country Living Editorial Shoot

For this editorial shoot, I wanted to capture what everyday cowboy and farmer life really looks like. A lot of times, when people think about cowboys or farmers, they picture something straight out of a movie—dramatic scenes, perfect sunsets, and staged moments. But in reality, being a cowboy and farmer is about the everyday work and the routine that comes with it. My goal was to show those real moments through a boy, his horse, his cow dogs, and the cattle they work with every day.

The inspiration for this shoot came from my recent, ever-growing love for agriculture and a deep appreciation for rural life. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with caring for animals and working on the land, and I wanted the photos to reflect that. Instead of making the shoot feel overly posed, I focused on letting the moments happen naturally so the images would feel honest and authentic.

During the shoot, I paid attention to the small interactions between the boy, the horse, the dogs, and the cattle. Those connections tell the real story. The dogs watching closely, the horse standing steady, and the cattle moving through the pasture all helped show what daily life looks like in this environment.

My process was mostly about observing and capturing moments as they happened. I wanted the photos to feel simple and real, like a glimpse into someone’s everyday routine. Through this editorial shoot, my goal was to show the hard work, loyalty, and lifestyle that come with being a cowboy and farmer.

The world is yours, with a horse that will take you anywhere and a dog to follow beside you.

“Well, a good dog on the ground’s worth three in the saddle. No matter where you’re from. “
